Daily Update 9/4

 HDHG Suspected of Illicit Activity

When one Herm, a resident of Pozny, received a letter that he had acquired a vacant plot near the center of town, he did not know whether to be frightened or happy. He ignored the letter, dismissing it as spam, but more and more just kept coming. Stubbornly, he continued to ignore the letters, until, around a week after the letters had started coming, he received a letter from the Mayor’s Office saying that the lot was poorly kept and evidence suggested it belonged to a hoarder, and, that unless he took care of his property, the City Council was going to fine him for neglect of property.

Confused, the Herm went to the clerk of the Mayor’s Office and asked if they had, in fact, sent that letter. To his surprise, according to the City’s records, he had owned the property for eleven years now. Understandably, a lot left untended for eleven years would definitely show signs of neglect.

Upon finding himself in the center of the City by chance the next day, he happened upon the plot of land he allegedly owned. And missed a step, falling over on his face at the sight of what stood before him. Not only was the plot overgrown, with grasses growing at head height, the property seemed to be host to some kind of unofficial City Dump where it seemed that Herms had been depositing used tires for decades.

When a resident of the apartment building next door saw the Ba Herm lying flat on his face, he came out and helped him up. Not knowing that the Herm he was helping up was actually the owner of his long lost farm which had turned into a vacant lot when the HDHG had purchased it to build a community center but had never come back with a plan to build one.

When the Herm that had fallen explained how he had never bought the land and how it had just recently started to cause him grief, the resident of the apartment knew something was up and suspected that somebody who had access to the City Records was behind it. Fortunately for him, well known detective Jimdough Buzzerbum was in town for vacation and renting an apartment in the same complex and took up the case under the provision that if they could catch the culprit, the money won from the court case would go to them.

Two days later, with Jimdough’s detective skills hard at work, it was discovered that the City Records had indeed been modified, as recently as a few weeks ago. Then, it was evident that the Herm who had owned the property before was just trying to hand off the maintenance upkeep to a victim chosen at random. Evidence was sufficient to postpone the fines, but the investigation was still ongoing.

When the Mayor’s Investigative team arrived for an inspection, a strange substance was discovered underneath the pile of tires and the lot was closed off while the substance was compared with other illegal substances. It was determined, based on taste and smell, that the substance was Duff Horse Ashes, a product of the highly illegal practice of Duff Horse sacrificing.

Now, the case had reached state-wide recognition and records across Pozny were being searched for any clue of who the previous owner of the lot might have been. All evidence pointed towards the HDHG as the culprit and after a short court case, they were determined to be responsible for the property and conspirators of the illegal activities taking place there. It’s yet to be seen what will happen next.

Homeless Duff Herm Guild Protests Against Large Scale Advertisement The HDHG, the largest free Duff Herm organization in the country, have begun nationwide protests, some revolving into uncontrollable mobs, that have gathered in the country’s largest cities to protest big advertisements and billboards. The Department of Emergency Management says that, “Two hundred billboards worth a grand total of 1,900 Herm Dollars were destroyed by protesters.” While the Department (which is largely run by members of the HDHG) discusses their next move, the Homeless Duff Herm Guild has started a massive mobilization of militias across the country. The leaders of the guild have been silent about their intentions, but the members of the militias believe that they are needed to protect Hermistan from some unknown external threat. Currently, around a thousand Duff Herms march to the border of the Umbucci Clan of Stanistan, leading them is legendary General Jim Kurt.  One HermPost reporter ...

Herm In Walizburg Invents Flapjack Dispenser In Walizburg, the region that has already made such notable inventions as the double salt shaker which could dispense two different kinds of salt by just pressing one button, a young Herm craftsman and his Eri Herm apprentices invented a creation that may go down in history as a Duff Herm’s flappyjakiest toy: the Flapjack dispenser! This new innovation has already won awards from many different Herm science institutes for its clever use of mechanics and levers.
